We are looking for one new tutor to serve 1-1 in-home SAT/ACT tutoring for families in the DC metro area, particularly Fairfax and Alexandria, with the ability to also instruct 1 to 2 weekend SAT/ACT courses each year with a substantial hourly bonus. 
 

Overview
Applerouth is a group of passionate educators seeking Test Prep tutors excited to work at a growing educational services company. Founded in 2001, we have created a supportive and dynamic learning environment that fosters growth and success for our students. Today, Applerouth is part of Guidewell Education, a newly-formed, mission-driven company representing a range of successful legacy brands in the education space. Our family of brands includes Summit Educational Group, ESM Prep, College Match Point, UES, Metro Academic Prep, and Launch Precollege Labs. Together, Applerouth and these brands provide a wide range of support to students across the world.

New tutors go through paid training to provide them with extensive knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, as well as pedagogical strategies to help tutor different types of students. We also provide regular supplemental training to help tutors stay aware of changes to both tests and pedagogy. Applerouth tutors believe students are more than a score. That's why we keep our focus fixed on building better learners for life.  

We expect applicants to have the following: Empathy, Creativity, Strong communication skills, and a desire to help others. Tutors create custom lesson plans using industry-leading materials and prep their students weekly, leading up to the student's target test date(s). Scheduling is determined between the family and the tutor. Families' general availability is provided ahead of time before a tutor is matched. 

Requirements

  • SAT, ACT, or other standardized test scores.
  • Acceptable score on a pre-interview screening quiz
  • At least one year of College.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Most sessions will occur in students' homes or a mutually amenable location.
  • Flexible schedule - a mix of weekday afternoons/evenings and weekends required. 
  • High-speed internet.
  • Prior tutoring/teaching experience is a plus!
